French Hand Painted Porcelain
Personalised Creations and Parisian Souvenirs by Annouchka Beguin
Some gifts carry a story. A hand-painted porcelain plate with a child's name painted in a Parisian atelier. A miniature tea set adorned with Eiffel Towers, brought back from a trip to Paris. A christening bowl that will be kept for a lifetime.
At L'Île aux Fées, alongside our traditional children’s smocked dresseswe are proud to present the work of Annouchka Beguin, a Parisian artist who has been painting on fine Limoges porcelain for over twenty years. Each piece is hand-painted in her private studio, just a few streets from our boutique in Paris. Every brushstroke is her own. Every creation is unique.
Alongside her bespoke creations, a curated selection of pieces is available directly in the boutique. Many echo our dress collections and seasonal themes, allowing families to discover and take home a creation immediately, while others are imagined and made entirely to order.
Whether you are searching for a personalised porcelain gift, a refined present for a newborn, an authentic Parisian keepsake for a child, or a bespoke set to grace your table, you are in the right place.
A PARISIAN PORCELAIN ARTIST
Annouchka Beguin came to porcelain painting almost by chance. After completing a postgraduate law degree and raising her children, she turned to painting, first on canvas, then on porcelain. It was through a friend’s invitation to a workshop that she discovered her true calling.
Her atelier, nestled in the 6th arrondissement, opens onto the rooftops of Paris. Light fills the space where she works with great pleasure. Located within her home, it’s her haven of peace and joy.
Her inspiration is drawn from a poetic and richly observed world. Flowers in full bloom. Feathers and delicate foliage. Animals, both familiar and exotic. Japanese prints. Books and the great naturalist illustrators of earlier centuries. And of course her beloved home town : the city of Paris.
Every creation reflects not only her hand, but her sensibility. A balance of precision, softness and imagination that gives each piece its singular presence.
FRENCH CRAFTSMANSHIP AND LIMOGES PORCELAIN
The porcelain itself comes from Limoges, a name long synonymous with excellence in French decorative arts. To this day it is considered as the finest in France for the purity and luminosity of its clay. Its delicate whiteness allows colour and detail to emerge with remarkable clarity.
Annouchka selects each form with care, from plates and bowls to cups and miniature tea sets, creating porcelain tableware that is both refined and enduring.
Each motif is first sketched freehand on white porcelain, then brought to life through a meticulous and deliberately slow process of painting and firing.
Working with brush and nib, she layers pigments patiently, allowing each stage to settle before the next begins.
Each piece enters the kiln at 810°C, a temperature reached very gradually to avoid thermal shock, over a cycle of around eight hours. The first firing anchors the pigments into the enamel. A second layer of paint and a second firing of eight hours brings out the full brilliance of the colours. For complex or multi-coloured motifs, the process may be repeated four or five times. Certain pigments like gold and red among them require a slightly lower temperature and a dedicated firing of their own.
What emerges is not simply decorated porcelain, but a true expression of French craftsmanship. A made in France porcelain gift, designed to be used, admired and passed on.
CREATIONS FOR THE BOUTIQUE AND BESPOKE COMMISSIONS
At L'Île aux Fées, Annouchka’s work unfolds in two complementary ways.
A selection of creations is available in the boutique, ready to be chosen. Many are developed in harmony with our dress collections and the rhythm of the seasons. Soft florals, delicate bows, refined palettes and poetic motifs echo the world of the boutique, creating a subtle dialogue between garment and object.
Alongside these pieces, each family may commission a fully personalised creation.
Some begin with a name, a date or a simple idea. Others take shape over time, through conversation and careful refinement. Annouchka works closely with each one, guiding every step with attention and sensitivity.
A custom porcelain plate with a name becomes part of daily life. A bowl created to celebrate a birth becomes a lifelong keepsake. A complete service, imagined around a theme, becomes part of a home.
Each piece is therefore one of a kind. Not only because it is hand painted, but because it has been created for one person alone.
SIGNATURE UNIVERSES AND THEMES
Annouchka’s creations unfold across a series of poetic worlds, each with its own character, yet all sharing the same refinement.
Miniature tea sets
Among her most beloved creations, miniature tea sets invite play, ritual and imagination. Some are adorned with florals, others with animals or delicate patterns. Among the most sought after are those inspired by Paris, where Eiffel Towers, elegant lampposts, street signs and subtle flag motifs appear in finely painted detail. These pieces are often chosen as a Parisian souvenir for children’s tea parties, or as a luxury baby gift from Paris.
Animal themes
From gentle woodland creatures to more exotic animals, these designs bring warmth and personality to each piece. They are often chosen for personalised porcelain gifts, where a child’s favourite animal becomes part of the design.
Floral creations
Soft garlands, scattered blossoms or more detailed botanical compositions reflect Annouchka’s sensitivity to nature. These pieces echo both the seasons and the delicate palettes of the boutique’s collections.
Vases and decorative pieces
Beyond tableware, Annouchka creates vases and decorative objects designed to find their place within a home. Whether offered as a wedding gift, a housewarming present or a personal acquisition, they carry the same attention and individuality.

Annouchka’s porcelain naturally accompanies life’s most meaningful moments. To celebrate a birth, a porcelain baby gift becomes a treasured object, both useful and deeply personal. For a christening, a personalised piece marks the occasion with quiet elegance. For a birthday, a tea set or illustrated service transforms everyday rituals into moments of wonder. What is Limoges porcelain and why does it matter?
Limoges is a city in central France historically renowned for producing the finest porcelain in the world, thanks to the exceptional quality of its local kaolin clay. Limoges porcelain is prized for its whiteness, translucency and durability. Annouchka sources her blanks exclusively from Limoges manufacturers, including Bernardaud.
How long does a hand-painted porcelain piece take to make?
Each piece requires multiple rounds of painting and kiln firing. A single firing cycle takes around eight hours, and complex pieces may go through four or five firings. In total, the creation of one piece can take several days of work. For personalised or bespoke orders, please allow three to four weeks minimum.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Annouchka ships her porcelain worldwide. All pieces are carefully packaged for safe transit. Please contact us at info@lileauxfees.com for shipping quotes and timescales to your destination.

Her work is available through L'Île aux Fées both in our Paris boutique and online. You can browse the collection on this page and contact us directly to place an order or enquire about personalisation.
Is Annouchka's porcelain dishwasher safe?
Hand-painted porcelain should be treated with care. We recommend hand-washing to preserve the colours and gilding over time. Some pieces may be dishwasher-safe at low temperatures, but hand-washing is always the safest option for items you wish to keep beautiful for years to come.
